About Us

We Rock Gainesville is an organization that uses music and performance as a platform to encourage self-esteem, self-expression, and community for girls and gender-expansive youth.

We Rock Gainesville (WRG) primarily functions as a week-long summer day camp that accepts regional youth aged 10-17 years old (more details below). WRG is entirely run by local women-identified and gender-expansive volunteers, many of whom are musicians themselves and perform in local bands. To keep the camp population diverse, organizers strive to keep camp fees low and offer both full and partial scholarships, as well as free lunch and snacks each day of camp. WRG is able to cover the costs of camp through community outreach throughout the year which includes musical benefits, film screenings, and tabling, among other forms of outreach.

Throughout the year, WRG’s organizers remain active facilitating private and group music lessons with campers who are interested in performing outside of camp. Camp staff maintain a gear lending library where music gear that is being stored in between camp sessions can be lent out to local girls and low-income musicians.

We are a member of the Girls Rock Camp Alliance and align our values with the GRCA Points of Unity.
